Jimmy Kavuma, 25 years

With Jimmy all has begun. Katrin met Jimmy during her stay in Uganda while she was preparing the P7 class for their PLE exam at the Kids Pioneer School in Bugiri located directly on the Victoria lake. Together with her volunteer colleague Jason Edwards she decided to support Jimmy going to secondary school by asking her private network for support. Jimmy lives together with his grandmother and his 5 siblings in Bugiri and and has done his A-level in 2019. Jimmy studied computer sciences and software engineering at the Njideje University in Kampala from 2021 until 2024 and completed it with a Bachelor degree in October 2024. Currently Jimmy is doing and searching for several internships to gain further experience. Maybe at a later stage he will add the Masters degree. 

Samuel Baker Eyena, 23 years

Katrin has known Baker during her time at the Kids Pioneer School when Baker was attending P6 and asked her for supporting him in receiving an operation for a thyroglossal cyst. Baker has successfully accomplished his S6 year  at the Merryland Entebbe Secondary School with the respective A-Level exams. Baker is an orphan boy who has lost his parents in an accident, has no direct siblings and is living with his uncle and his cousins. In the school Baker has shown that he is a smart, polite and mature boy who understands taking his life in his own hands and not disappointing people who agreed to support him. Baker is doing health care nutrition and agriculture science at the University in Gulu in Northern Uganda.

Peace Nahfuka, 23 years

Peace has finished her Primary school in November 2014 with the official PLE and was attending S1 to S4 the Kisubi Maapera Secondary School and S5 the Kajansi Highschool. End 2019 we recognized that the academical path for Peace is not the right path to go and we decided to finish Secondary School and start an education at the Mildmay Institute for Health Science as midwife for 2 1/2 years in 2020.  She lives together with 1 brother and 3 sisters at her grandmothers place. Her mother is living in Kampala and works for not regular jobs to get money for helping the family. The siblings of Peace are not going to school. 

Peace has completed her theoretical midwife studies in 2024 and is doing currently a 2 years internship to be a certified midwife. She has found the internship by herself and we do not need to financially support this. However for this time we continue to support her in getting personal safety belongings which are not given by the hospital, e.g. one-time gloves for protection. 

Maria Nandawula, 23 years

Maria has finished her Primary school in November 2014 with the official PLE and was attending S1 to S4 the Kisubi Maapera Secondary School and S5 the Kajansi Highschool. Josephine Nankabirwa, 20 years

Josephine is 20 years old has successfully accomplished her S6 class at Buddo SS with concentration on sciences. Josephine, we love to call her Josi, is a very hard working, friendly and smart student, who also likes to do sports. She has 2 brothers and 2 sisters, but she lives only with her mother and her little brother. Her mum works on a farm and receives only few salary that she can not pay the school fees. Her ex-husband and the father of Josephine is not paying any money for the kids. 

Josi has decided to go the education path of a pharmacist. For studying pharmacy most applicants are asked to perform first a preparation year, which Josi completed in 2024. Now Josi is searching for universities where she can do her bachelor of pharmacy starting in 2025.

Andrew Kizito, 20 years

Andrew is new as a student to be supported by us. Andrew was supported by Jason and a direct sponsor for getting his education path started until end 2024. Unfortunately the sponsor declined the support and Jason can not support Andrew fully as he is supporting several youngsters with private money. We have decided to support Andrew as he is also a well known person to us. We got to know him at the Kids Pioneer school as a very friendly, intelligent and reliable student at this time. Andrew has started his education in finance and controlling with the support from Jason and we would like to continue the support so that he can complete his education. 

Andrew grew up in a family of 4 siblings, whereas he is the oldest one. His single mom takes care of him and his siblings and works for a very low salary on a local farm. Without support from us, Andrew would be not able to complete his studies. 

Eric Walaba, 20 years

Eric has finished his S6 school exams in 2019 at the Elite College in Entebbe . The school was chosen for him together with his sponsor.  Eric was sponsored till begin of 2016 through a privat sponsor directly and upon request of the sponsor we have decided to include Eric into MUKISA activities and support the sponsor in all administrative tasks. All costs related to Eric are paid via donation by the sponsor. His school reports and performances will be not published here but directly send to his sponsor. Eric lives with his aunt and his uncle in Bwerenga. He loves football and tag rugby and in the school he loved to be part of the debate club. After his A-level  Eric will be not supported further by MUKISA and will discuss further with his sponsor. 

Sanyu Esther Nakitto, 22 years

Sanyu has completed her S4 school in 2019 with O-level certificate. 2019 was a quite tough year for Sanyu as he lost in very short time her grandmother and her grandfather, where she was living. Sanyu has completed with our support an education as cosmetician / hairstyler with the respective certificate.  Sanyu is now searching for a long term job in this field.
